BLACKFRIARS PRIORY SCHOOL STATUE UPDATE

Animal sculptures and a bench have replaced the covered up questionable statue that was at the centre of controversy at Blackfriars Priory School in Adelaide back in 2017. Let's hope that it's not a turtle like this startled one.

Mind you, it would no doubt be apt at a catholic primary school.

Talking of apt, the offending statue also hinted at some of catholic school practices.

Designed in Vietnam, the statue shows a young boy kneeling at the foot of a saint as he is fed bread.
"Out of such an unforeseen and unfortunate event" the school had decided to create "a magical space for the children", principal Simon Cobiac told the Daily Mail.
The school was forced to cover the statue after it caused a social media furore.
The statue featured on the Instagram page S**tAdelaide when it was erected in 2017, where commenters were less than complimentary. It's unclear why it's taken so long for it to be removed.
One commenter called it a mix of hilarious and disturbing, while several drew connections between the seemingly suggestive statue and allegations of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church.
The school said at the time the statue would be redesigned, and apologised for any offence caused.

Interestingly, Robert saw no problem with this statue.

Here's his comment on The Religious See yourmudgeon's post back in 2017.

LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED

In the USA we religious organizations  have rightly (see what I did there?) aligned ourselves with the Republican party and await the reversal of the erroneous 2020 election result.

One of our 'brethren' a local hero from Tennessee says he'll ban churchgoers who wear masks, branding them 'Democrat games' and says he's 'sick' of hearing about 'this Delta variant nonsense'. Pastor Greg Locke told his congregation in a sermon on Sunday not to believe 'this Delta variant nonsense' and not to communicate with atheists.

Good on you Pastor Greg. Keep up the good work.

The good work, or, God's work is never done. We just have to keep at it. Fortunately it's easy for us as it's not a big leap from belief in God to belief in Donald Trump.
